Hello Readers!
So as an English lass this years Olympics have held a special place in my heart and while I wasn’t able to be in the UK for the entire Olympics I was able to be in London for the opening ceremony which was incredible!!! In order to share with you just how wonderful the experience of being there for the Opening ceremony was I’m going to share with you the short poem thing I wrote on July 27th sitting in Victoria Park with my sister gleaming with pride as my home country I’ve always loved with a fierce passion got ready to show the world just how incredible a small island can be.
Sitting in a bustling Victoria Park with union jacks and shining screens surrounding me
My grinning sister sits next to me and a flags plastered on my arm
There’s no need to describe this feeling but I’ll do my best to try
Pride and Jubilation bubbling inside of me
I may not be a Londoner but I am an English lass. The world is looking at the British isles and the country gleams with pride
We may be a small island but when push comes to shove there is a quiet and undeniable strength here
And as English summer clouds gather and the Olympic ceremony nears I can’t help but smile
It’s an event of a lifetime, a shining moment of my already crazy life
This moment is extraordinary
In fact it might even be perfect
I hope you liked this short poem thing as I like to say. The Olympics have been truly amazing and I’m so proud of Great Britain right now. There was a lot of doubt in regards to the Olympics in London and in short I feel its safe to say London 2012 kicked butt. I know this year with the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics has sparked a new wave of patriotism in the UK and I hope it sticks around for a while.
I’m very proud of the Olympics and I’m very proud to be English/British.
Until next time be blessed, stay strong and never give up,
God Bless,
Grace Hatton
